Do ramp controllers need an FAA medical?

I've been wondering about this for a while and haven't been able to find a clear answer, do you need an FAA medical certificate to do the job?, most ramp towers aren't run by the FAA but by the airlines or airport operators themselves, so I'm guessing the requirements might be different from traditional ATC roles, but are there any medical standards involved at all? or is it more up to the individual company?
