why does dfw shut down so fast when weather hits

Are there any DFW controllers present? I appreciaet the work that you all do, but I'm wondering why everything breaks down when the weather changes. Just a complete stop,no vectors, no alternate flow. After a diversion tonight, I'm stuck on an unforeseen overnight. I'd be interested in learnin the inside scoop on how things operate during storms.

Not a DFW controller, but yeah storms there really jam up the works and when weather hits the main arrival paths, they've got nowhere to put planes. If you're not already in the system, you're basically on hold.

Yeah, storms at DFW really clog things up, when weather hits main arrivals, controllers have limited options for planes, so if you're not already in the system, you just get stuck on hold. It's frustrating but safety first.

As someone who's dealt with DFW weather delays, I completely feel your pain on that unforeseen overnight! well, you know it's a tough situation for everyone, but the controllers are making real time decisions to maintain safe separation under extremely challenging conditions
